At the end of the SCITT programme you will gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) which enables you to teach at primary, secondary and post 16.  If you wish to complete the PGCE, you can do this online (Distance Learning) and run it alongside the SCITT programme.  Further information will be provided at assessment.

Entry Requirements

All candidates must have achieved a standard equivalent to a Level 4 [Grade C on the old system] in GCSE English and maths (and also science if applying for primary) exams.  The Fylde Coast SCITT offer equivalency tests in English, maths and science at a cost of £50. However, we are unable to offer a revision package.

All candidates must hold an undergraduate degree awarded by a higher education provider in England or Wales (or a recognised equivalent qualification), ideally in a subject relating to their chosen specialism for secondary.  A Levels are preferred but not essential.

We also welcome applicants who are in the final year of their degree and can offer conditional placements, dependent on successful completion of degree or any other pending qualifications.

Finance

All our programmes are unsalaried however, you will be able to apply for a tuition fee and maintenance loan from Student Finance England and if you intend to teach Secondary (11-16 or 11-19), you may also be entitled to a tax-free bursary.  Information about funding your training can be found on the Department for Education website.
